sforming Lives by the Power of the Holy Spirit
Our Core BeliefsWe Believe:
1. That God intervened in history over two thousand years ago, in the
person of Jesus Christ, to redeem sinful man unto Himself.
2. That God has charged us, through biblical mandate, to share the
Good News of His loving intervention with those who don’t know it.
3. That God has charged us, through biblical mandate, to teach
others to do the same.
Destiny’s Statement of Faith
Destiny’s statement of faith provides a glimpse of what we
believe about the essentials of our faith and biblical support for
these beliefs.
The BIBLE – The Bible is the sole basis of our belief. The
Bible is comprised of 66 books, 39 Old Testament books and
27 New Testament books. It is the Word of God. The Bible in it’s entirety originated with God, speaks with the authority of God, and reflects the backgrounds, styles, and vocabularies
of the human authors at the same time. The scriptures are infallible and in-errant in the original manuscripts.
II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21.
GOD – There is only one true God Mark 12:32; John 17:3.
God the Father (I John 5:7-8) is the first person of the Trinity
or Godhead. The Trinity consists of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each member of the Godhead equally possess all the attributes of deity and characteristics of personality. In the beginning God created out of nothing the
world and all things therein. Genesis 1:1-2.
JESUS CHRIST – Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh.
He is the eternal second person of the Trinity who was united
with a true human nature (John 1:14) by a miraculous conception and virgin birth. Jesus lived a life of perfect obedience to the Father and voluntarily died on the cross as a substitute for man’s fallen nature. Therefore, He and He alone was able to pay the penalty for our sins and provide the only way of salvation for man (John 14:6). He rose from the dead in the same body and ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father making mediation between God and man (Romans 8:34). Jesus shall come again to earth to fulfill the eternal plan of God.
The HOLY SPIRIT – The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is fully God. He is eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent, He has a will, and can speak. He is alive. He is a person. He is not particularly visible in the Bible because His ministry is to bear witness of Jesus (John 15:26He was sent into the world by God the Father and The Son (Acts 1:8) to assist believers in living holy and obedient lives for Christ. As we submit to the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit we are empowered to do the Will of God. The Holy Spirit is the power source for the believer (Luke 24:40). The Holy Spirit has many functions in the life of a believer including and not limited to: Counselor, Comforter; Helper (John 14:16-18; 26); Teacher ).
(I Corinthians 2:9-14); and Guide (John 16:13).
SALVATION – The Word of God states that “All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God” – Romans 3:23. This sin is the direct result of the fall of man. The fall of mankind occurred at the beginning of human history - Genesis 3. As a result of the fall, man has been spiritually separated from God. The penalty for this fallen state is death (Romans 6:23). How-ever, due to God’s omniscience, from the very beginning He had a plan to restore man back to right relationship with Him. This plan is called salvation. The salvation of mankind is wholly a work of God’s free grace, not the result in whole or
in part of human works or goodness, and must be personally appropriated by repentance and faith. (Ephesians 2:8-9).
FAITH AND PRACTICE – Scripture is the final authority in all
matters of faith and practice. This church recognizes that It can-not bind the conscience of individual members in areas where scripture is silent. Rather, each believer is to be led in those
areas by the Lord, to whom he or she alone is ultimately responsible.
THE CHURCH – The benefit of union with Jesus Christ is that all believers become members of His body, the church. There is one true Church universally comprised of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The Scripture commands believers to gather together to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, observance of baptism, communion, and fellowship. Service to the body through the development and use of talents and gifts, and outreach to the world is the sacramentarian ordinances established by Jesus Christ.
Wherever God’s people meet regularly in obedience to His command there is the local expression of the church. Under the watchful care of ministers and other supportive leadership, its members are to work together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.
